In the heart of downtown Los Angeles, Throw Clay LA is a vibrant pottery studio where creativity comes to life. We offer beginner-friendly One-Time Classes, 6-Week Pottery Courses, memberships for experienced potters and Private Team Events.
Our courses are designed as small, consistent studio groups where students build skills over time, working alongside the same instructor and fellow potters each week. Whether you’re throwing your first pot or building a complete dinnerware set, you’re learning as part of a shared studio experience. Many students continue in the same class time across sessions, building both skill and familiarity in the studio.
From beginners throwing their first pot to experienced hobbyists creating full dinnerware sets, and even advanced potters preparing to launch their own work, Throw Clay LA exists to support long-term creative growth.
Founded by potter John Prescott, Throw Clay LA was created as a neighborhood studio where people return week after week to create, learn, and spend time together. Pottery is a hands-on process with immediate feedback, making it easy for beginners to get started while offering depth for those who continue developing their skills over time.
Our instructors and studio mentors bring a wide range of creative backgrounds and guide students through both handbuilding and the potter’s wheel.
